the world passed me by and i rolled over

When I went to bed last night, I layed on my back, staring at the ceiling. It was mindless thing to do considering the fact that: 1) I couldn't see anything; 2) There's nothing to look at on my ceiling except empty space. I guess I was hoping that the "zoning out" would help me fall asleep. But it didn't.

Still, I didn't give up. I lost track of time. Luckily, Uncle Johnnie was available to sing me a song. Several rounds rendered me as mindless and content as Kim Jong Il in a Soviet storage silo full of leaky nukes.

riiiiiiiiiiing. Snoopy woke me at exactly 11:30 AM. I turned off my alarm and figured I'd sleep for another 5 minutes... service at church wouldn't start for about another hour and it usually doesn't take me that long to get ready to go. I blinked once and closed my eyes.

I opened my eyes again and looked at the clock. 1:20 PM. Oops.

No big deal. I tried to tell myself. But I still felt a little bad about missing church. For most of my life, my attendance every Sunday has been immaculate. Post-college life has been a little bit different, though. No use trying to get up now... there'd be no way to make it to church. I rolled over and closed my eyes again.

The next time, I couldn't help but feel a sense of deja vu as I repeated the same motions in turning and opening my eyes to look at the clock. 4:00 PM. I stared at the numbers and blinked.

4:35 PM.

blink.

4:45 PM.

blink.

4:50 PM.

Sleeping sometimes is strange like that.

keeping in touch

I talked to my good friend Selman last night on the denwa/dianhua. I'm glad to know he's doing well in Japan still... I'm hoping he'll have a chance to come thru Seattle and visit me here.

One God, one love.
