Well, I finally scanned my pictures from the roadtrip...

Here's a picture of Shiv and Kenny at Safeway in Lincoln City... before we went to the beach, we stopped to buy some food for an impromptu picnic. They were selling Halloween toys, which Shiv is modeling here... hahaha. This picture is a reaction from Ryan and Siska to Shiv+Halloween mask.

Once we got on the beach, we scarfed on sandwiches, jojos, and corndogs... yum! Here Ryan, Kenny, and Dave are amazed at the bounty... either that or they're trying to figure out what we bought to eat. After a spirited Ultimate Frisbee game of guys versus gals, the apartment crew proceeded to play on the beach. Look at these cool rocks we found. Shiv, Naomi, and Dave strike a pose. Here's a picture of the whole group. Whoohooo! This one is messed up. Guess the guy didn't know how to use my camera.

After our beach adventure, we went to the outlet stores to do some shopping. Everyone was looking for latest fashions... just check this picture of Ryan and Dave (mullets not included). Even Shiv found me this stylin' hat.

Finally, to end our day in Lincoln City, we went to the Blackfish Cafe for some grub. Here's a shot of us enjoying dinner.

All in all, a fun trip...

Oh yeah... some shots of "Blue Team", my group from Experiencing God. Here's a "serious" picture... and here's a "real" picture. Hahahaha... Chong & Ray are in the back... me & Reg are in the middle... Evan & Jon are up front.

Today was the last meeting of my "Experiencing God" study group that I lead this past summer. It's hard to believe that 12 weeks and the summer went by so fast. I suppose I'll write more later about what I learned... but I think I miss the guys already. What great time it was.

Oh, and this past weekend was great too...

The open summer skies over a vast sea can fill the eyes
just as the murmur of crashing waves can caress ears.
The smell of an ocean's salted air can refresh the nose
just as the cooked catch of its harvest can satisfy the mouth.
The grains of sand shifting can evoke feeling in fingers
but what of a man's soul?

Without God, a soul is senseless
unable to draw from the world around.
Only God grants eyes that see hope
or ears that hear encouragement.
Only by His love, we discern comfort
and taste compassion.
Only by His grace, we feel mercy
and know purpose.

This, the body knows.
Does the soul understand?

Well, my wish for a vacation has come sooner than I thought... it totally slipped my mind that this weekend is the apartment roadtrip / camping. Whoohoo! It's nice to drop everything and travel, even if it's for just a little bit.

My Mom is also cooking dinner for all the apartment people too... yay, home-cooked food! =)

In other, completely unrelated news, this is a cool Flash-powered site.

Well, the past few days have been busy. At least mentally busy. My brain has been working overtime trying to process all the different things that have been happening lately. It's vacation and I think I need a vacation... heh. Unfortunately, bills and rent require me to work... whooo boy.

The latest project at my job is the dubbing of soundeffects from records to WAV files to burning it onto CD. Imagine listening to an hour of airplane sounds or weather noises, and you get a small idea of the wackiness...

Nifty... heh...

It was cold.

The young man got up slowly from the ground and slowly wiped his face. There was nothing on his face to really wipe, but instinctively he did it... as if with the motion of his hand he could wipe away the pervasive psychological fog that was over him.

Where am I?

As his eyes slowly began to focus on the landscape around him, he took a deep breath. A pale gray blanket of clouds obscured the sky, and yet whatever celestial light that was behind them still managed to pour through a myriad of small breaks, in thin, lance-like beams. But what struck the young man was his surroundings. As far as he could see, there was nothing. His eyes strained toward the horizons, searching for anything... but still, there was nothing. He wasn't really sure how he even understood what the concept was, but things... well, things just didn't see right. At least the way they were.

Hmmm...

Turning around slowly, the young man discovered something. The first something in a land of nothing. Its body rose from the ground, slightly curved to one end, until it fragmented into several different strands of every thickness, length, and angle, grasping skyward. It towered above him unobstrusively, but still, in a strange way it wasn't intimidating at all. It was a tree. The young man wasn't sure how he knew that it was called a tree, but that's what it was.

Though it occurred to the young man that he should be somewhere, he wasn't exactly sure where that somewhere was. Did he forget or did he just not even know in the first place? The young man wiped his face again, this time drawing his hand even slower down his face.

I wonder...

Without even standing up, the young man moved himself toward the tree. It was just a body length away, so he simply dragged himself by his arms toward the tree. When he reached the base of the tree, the young man turned back around and leaned back against the trunk. He bowed his head, resting his chin on his chest, and folded his hands across his stomach. It felt right. At least, it was first thing that he felt was right in awhile. Interesting.

Am I dreaming?

In memorial and respect of those who have died, I'm putting a link to this poignant picture.

To read a BLOG of a guy who saw it all, check this out.

It's strange... I wake up today and more drama - there was another break-in into the parking garage of my apartment. A bunch cars got broken into, including Steph's, who is up here moving her stuff in. =(

Back to work... yipeee.

I guess I spoke too soon. I thought this past weekend with my PoPo's funeral was bad. Now I wake up and 4 US airplanes have been hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

It's unreal.

Crazy weekend...

Well, I'm finally all moved out of my old apartment and moved into my new apartment... and it only took me half of Thursday and all of Friday. Yay.

I just arrived in Oakland about an hour ago. Weather is pretty gray.

Argh. >_<

My mother called today to tell me that my PoPo (grandma) passed away today. I'm not sure what to write right now.

PoPo, I'll miss you. You were the only grandparent I really knew and loved. I'll always remember you for that.

Moving day...

Today I helped Shiv move into her new place near Greenlake... no more Maplewood 'hood. The event itself for me was a bit melancholy and happy at the same time, though the full emotional effect of it all didn't really hit me until I got back home to the apartment. I guess since the start of our relationship, I've taken for granted the fact that she lives nearby and all I had to do to see her and spend time with her was to go downstairs. In fact, people thought it was hilarious that I didn't even have the phone number to her apartment memorized... my line of reasoning being, "If she's home downstairs, why call when you can visit in person?" heh =)

Maybe I'm a bit sad because I know that due to my transportation-challenged circumstances (AKA no car), I probably won't be able to see her as much as before. On the otherhand, part of me knows that perhaps this what God wants for our relationship. It's just like Hi-Five sang about... it's about "Quality Time" instead of quantity time. At least, that's what I'll keep telling myself for now. =|

In other news, I heard from my mom via e-mail about my PoPo. She's been released from the hospital, but my mom didn't say exactly what is going to happen now. Her e-mail just said that the doctors released her because they've concluded "they can't do anything more for her" - how vague and ominous is that? I guess I'll have to wait until she flies back to Seattle this coming week.
