The open summer skies over a vast sea can fill the eyes just as the murmur of crashing waves can caress ears. The smell of an ocean's salted air can refresh the nose just as the cooked catch of its harvest can satisfy the mouth. The grains of sand shifting can evoke feeling in fingers but what of a man's soul? Without God, a soul is senseless unable to draw from the world around. Only God grants eyes that see hope or ears that hear encouragement. Only by His love, we discern comfort and taste compassion. Only by His grace, we feel mercy and know purpose. This, the body knows. Does the soul understand? |
