liquid bombs + planes = terror?

It's been a crazy day, with news that supposedly a terrorist plot involving liquid or gel-based explosives was foiled today in in London. Given all the recent trouble in the Middle East with the Hezbollah-Israeli conflict, and America's incompetent handling of the crisis, one wonders how long this attack was in planning, and at what stage the authorities were able to stop it.

As for the questions about how a liquid could be used to build a bomb? Well, maybe Al Qaeda just happened to Google themselves a recipe via the Internet (I take no responsibility for this link or its contents).
