• President Hu visits Seattle - The frontpage news was President Hu Jintao's stop here in the Emerald City. Seattle is definitely a city with a lot of ties to China - both Microsoft and Boeing are of course happy to have the prestige of a personal visit from the president, both there were also protests from pro-Tibet, pro-Taiwan, and pro-Falun Gong people too.
  
  On a related note, I saw a guy on campus today with a t-shirt that read: "SAVE TIBET, NUKE CHINA"... and of course, he was white. Probably your typical clueless and racist American, with their "human rights hypocrisy" (which miss maloy has written eloquently about) which is also conveniently blind to America's own failings.
  
  Yeah, China has issues with human rights, but guess what? So does this country. Poverty, anyone? Or the disturbing correlations between race and rate of incarceration?
  
  
• Bush says military action against Iran is "on the table" - Aiyah. As horrible as things are in Iraq right now, at least one can be thankfully that (along with Afghanistan) it has stretched our military to the point where an additional military campaign is impossible... though I guess this administration isn't adverse to launching some ICBMs over that way. David worries about the state of the world also.
  
  
• Man Charged With First Degree Murder in Slaying of Girl - I first heard of this bizarre story from mr. davephonic and it's pretty freaking disturbing. Apparently, the 26 year old man killed the girl (his 10 year old neighbor) with the intent of eating her corpse. Yep, cannibalism. More proof in my book that people are definitely not inherently good... Oh yeah, he kept a (dull) blog. *shudder*
  
  
• God or the Girl - Anybody heard of this show? Supposedly it's a "documentary" about four young men struggling to choose between becoming Catholic priests or dating women. Sounds interesting, but I wonder if it the subject matter was handled seriously or not, given the corny title...
