who's afraid of the big, bad... bunny?

It was another fun Thursday at the elementary school today, working with my 2nd grade students. I found a small bag of sweets & a "Happy Chinese New Year" note on my desk when I came in... on Monday while I was gone, one of the Chinese families in the class brought in treats and hong bao for the whole class. They saved some for me, yay!

I guess the class also discussed that 2006 is the "Year of the Dog" and talked about the Chinese Zodiac animals. One of the boys seemed particularly fascinated by this cultural aspect, so he drew a picture for me during his free time of his two favorite zodiac animals, the rabbit and the dog and gave it to me as a present for Chinese New Year (since I'm Chinese, haha).

My student's drawing:

Apparently, rabbits these days are pretty vicious, feral animals. Check out the fangs on Mr. Hop-Hop Bunny.

music stats

Cool cousin Megan had this music thingie on her Xanga, so I thought I'd continue my little study break and do it for fun (yeah, I'm procrastinating on my grad school HW). I added/modified some of the categories...

You're an Immortal Tech fan too?

Have you heard his unreleased album with "Caught in a Hustle" on it?

I played it for my students a couple of times. It really gets at the reality of an urban PoC in our society.
